Laboratory Technician

Requirements of a Lab Technician:
- Ability to work independently using good judgement, and as a team player
- Resourceful, reliable and self-motivated
- Strong work ethic
- Good organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills including verbal and listening
- Adept at time management and able to work with deadlines
- Flexible, accommodating and positive approach
Responsibilities of a Lab Technician:
- Prepare samples
- Conduct basic chemical analysis
- Calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of the instruments
- Keeping logs and NWR’s up to date
- Complying with Quality Standards and adhering to Health & Safety
- Keeping work areas clean and tidy plus general housekeeping duties as requested by the Lab Manager
You’re enthusiastic, organised and willing to learn. You’ve GCSEs and/or BTECs under your belt. If they’re in a Science related subject, you’ll go to the top of the shortlist. If you have previous experience working in a lab environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Sample Reception Technician

As a member of frontline Sample Reception team, you’ll be an integral part in the smooth running of the department; ensuring samples are booked-in and prepared for testing by the lab as quickly as possible. Key tasks include:
- Taking receipt of samples and ensuring deliveries match consignment logs
- Liaising with clients regarding test instructions, discrepancies or queries by phone, email and in person
- Conducting sample assessments and booking-in jobs
- Preparing samples and paperwork for the Sample Preparation team
- Preparing purchase orders and samples for subcontracting
- Completing Quality Assurance checks
- Maintaining sample storage system and logs
Most importantly, you’ll be happy to roll up your sleeves and get stuck-in because you love to keep busy. Being busy, you’ll be part of an overtime rota which will involve working some weekends as well as additional hours during the week when needed.
You’re the kind of person who takes pride in keeping your work area clean (despite the muck). You’re keen to communicate with colleagues and quick to learn. That’s important because you’ll be fully trained by our brilliant team of Technicians.
You’ll be qualified to GCSE/BTEC level, have laser-focus attention to detail and will have experience working with Microsoft packages.

Logistics Technician
JOB REF: 2632
PACKAGE: Up to £18,525 per annum, 25 days annual leave (+ stats), contributory pension scheme, Employee Assistance Programme, Company life insurance
HOURS: 37.5 per week
DURATION: Permanent position with a six-month probation period

Requirements of Logistics Technician
- Independent working using good judgement
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients and other departments
- Exceptional organisational skills with a high consideration to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and customer service skills
- Resourceful, self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Adept at time management and able to work with deadlines
- A full and clean UK driving license
Responsibilities of Logistics Technician
- Carry out collections of samples from client’s premises and sites
- Deliver sample containers to clients and samples for subcontracted analysis to supplier
- Plan the daily collection route and inform management of any delays or deviations from the pre-planned route
- Communicate with customers by phone to update them of time of collection/delivery if there have been issues or changes to the estimated time of arrival
- Keep accurate records of deliveries/collections and ensure all documentation is kept up to date
- Book, monitor and manage couriers
- Manage sample container requests
- Order and maintain stock of all sample and subsample containers
- Prepare and dispatch sample and fixed subsample containers
- Carry out sampling of soil samples from client’s sites
- Complete scheduled checks of vehicles
- Ensure vehicles are kept in clean condition and maintenance of vehicles is carried out as required
- Drive safely and follow all laws and rules of driving to maintain a safe and healthy work environment
- Assist other departments when requested by your Line Manager to do so
You’re enthusiastic, organised and confident; an experienced driver, proficient on the phone as you have strong people skills and above all you are self-motivated. You will be educated to at least GCSE-level standard and will have a minimum of 2 years demonstrable experience in a similar logistics/stock management role.
