DOWN TO EARTH. AND WATER.
POSITION: Inorganics Team Leader
JOB REF: 2506
PACKAGE: £25,000 – £35,000
24 days annual leave (+ stats), contributory pension scheme, Perkbox, salary sacrifice schemes
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week
CLOSING DATE: 15 April 2019
DESCRIPTION: We’re filthy and we’re proud of it.
Our purpose-designed lab tests muck and water. We do it really well – to nationally accredited standards. There are other labs who offer testing, but we’re fast, accurate and reliable and we guarantee our turnaround times. We’ve got lots of work. We’ve got lots of staff. And that’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a trailblazing Team Leader to inspire, motivate and manage our Inorganics team.
You’ll plan and monitor workload using our brand-new LIMS as well as prepare and analyse samples. You’ll be all over your team to ensure they are able to calibrate and maintain equipment and empower them to troubleshoot when things don’t go to plan.
You’re a genius at training, supervising and mentoring. You lead by example because you’re the kind of person who takes pride in keeping your work area clean (despite the muck) and live by the mantra ‘if there’s time to lean, there’s time to clean’. There’s not a day goes by when you don’t check-in with your team to check on stock levels.
Unashamedly proactive, your contributions to continuous improvement are readily forthcoming and you never shy away from offering up suggestions to help improve communication between the lab, Customer Support Squad, Quality and Senior Management Team.
You’ve a sound education in a chemistry related discipline with a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience, ideally in a commercial environment with a high throughput and working to demanding deadlines.
You are a guru when it comes to ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC, automated Colorimetry, TOC analysis as well as a wide range of wet chemistry techniques.
If you’re currently employed, or have previously been employed, in an environmental and/or contract laboratory sector, you’ll jump to the top of our shortlist. Knowledge of UKAS accreditation means you get a gold star against your name.
You’ll be supported by an excellent and enthusiastic bunch of scientists and a top-notch Lab Manager who will have your back every day. In return, you’ll be a role model for Technicians who will learn their trade through you. You might even be able to show our Chemists a thing or two…
