ABOUT US

DOWN TO EARTH. AND WATER.

John and Karan Campbell, co-founders of Chemtech Environmental, have been getting down and dirty with clients since 2002. Working previously for other labs, they’d seen it all. Lost samples, missed deadlines, promises made and not kept. Fed up with making excuses for poor performance, they decided to go it alone, setting up Chemtech Environmental to challenge shoddy standards and accepted industry norms. Operating from small industrial premises, the tide started to shift when they introduced a 5-day turnaround as standard service. A steadily growing customer base came to rely on fast, accurate and reliable reporting and the company was able to grow into a 30,000 sqft purpose-designed lab facility. The company has grown but the commitment to provide 5-star customer service remains, and we’re still pushing the envelope. What other lab would be championing a minionesque man in a white coat as a company mascot?

MEET OUR ELEMENTS

Vacancies

POSITION: sample reception & preparation technicians

JOB REF: 2537

PACKAGE:  Up to £20,000 per annum
24 days annual leave (+ stats) and contributory pension scheme

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week

DURATION: Permanent (6 months probation period)

CLOSING DATE: 28th September 2020

DESCRIPTION: We’re filthy and we’re proud of it.

Our purpose-designed lab tests muck and water. We do it really well – to nationally accredited standards. There are other labs who offer testing, but we’re fast, accurate and reliable and we guarantee our turnaround times. We’ve got lots of work. And that’s where you come in.

As a frontline member of the Sample Reception & Preparation team, you’ll be responsible for taking delivery of, booking-in and preparing samples for testing in the lab.

You may have a preference for a Sample Preparation role:

  • Subsampling and preparing samples for testing
  • Maintaining sample storage and logs
  • Sample disposal
  • Completing Quality Assurance checks
  • On site visits to collect samples and/or assist with water monitoring

Or you may have an aptitude for a Sample Reception role:

  • Taking receipt of samples and ensuring deliveries match consignment logs
  • Maintaining courier logs
  • Conducting sample assessments and booking-in jobs
  • Preparing samples and paperwork for the Sample Preparation team
  • Preparing samples and paperwork for subcontracting
  • Completing Quality Assurance checks

Most importantly, you’ll be happy to roll up your sleeves and get stuck-in because you love to keep busy. You’re the kind of person who takes pride in keeping your work area clean (despite the muck). You’re keen to communicate with colleagues and quick to learn. That’s important because you’ll be fully trained by our brilliant team of Technicians.

For the Sample Preparation role, you’ll have experience of a manual role under your belt and will have thrived working in a high volume, quick-paced working environment. For the Sample Reception role, you’ll be qualified to GCSE/BTEC level, have laser-focus attention to detail and will have experience working with Microsoft packages.

If you have previous experience working in a lab environment, we’d love to hear from you.
